Man United Agreed: Reliable source reveals Club have offer ‘the best player in Europe’ to Man United in exchange for player Ineos are keen to sell

Manchester United could be offered the chance to sign one of Europe’s best this summer in a Mason Greenwood swap deal.

One of the most sellable assets this summer for Manchester United is Mason Greenwood, as the 22-year-old comes off an excellent season with Getafe.

Despite his strong campaign, there isn’t thought to be a way back at Old Trafford for the academy graduate and therefore a transfer race has been heating up.

Earlier on Friday it was reported that Benfica had joined the race which currently comprises Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

But now, there’s been a further update on the Greenwood race.

Mason Greenwood says yes to Juventus as player swap is considered

As the interest in Mason Greenwood continues to grow, Juventus are back in the news with their interest being among the hottest right now.

It’s according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Greenwood has already said yes to the prospect of joining the Turin side under new manager Thiago Motta.

There however is a problem for Juventus, with United’s demand of between £35m and £40m too high for their budget this summer. However, as the report explains, there is a solution for this in the form of a potential player swap.

Not able to invest such heavy figures, Juventus are now thinking of offering a player with English U21’s Samuel Iling-Junior seen as one option and is described as the ‘hot name’.

The report adds that it’s also worth keeping an eye on Federico Chiesa, who is set to be sold this summer as he isn’t going to sign a new contract and United are said to be the type of club that could tempt him.

Federico Chiesa would solve a problem for Manchester United

Chiesa is arguably on his day one of the most dangerous wingers in world football, and if he’s on the table, it’s something United should seriously consider as he has long been considered as having the qualities to be one of “the best players in Europe”.

According to La Stampa in Italy, talks are already happening over Chiesa’s future and his agent is set to meet with Roma, while Napoli, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing Chiesa for what would be a deal worth at least £34m.

This fee is similar to the demands for Greenwood and therefore this could be a move which suits everyone involved and could see United finally sign a player who was linked all the way back in 2019.

Chiesa may be a left-winger naturally, but he’s also great on the right. But even if he is played on the left, Alejandro Garnacho is equally as good on the right and it gives the manager options in the forward positions.

He is coming off a season of nine goals and three assists in 33 Serie A games which shows that he is a top player as he was being used less regularly than expected. Three years after reports suggested Cristiano Ronaldo had requested United sign the 26-year-old.

Who is Samuel Iling-Junior?

As many fans read of Iling-Junior’s name being linked with being involved in the Greenwood deal, the question many will be asking is who is he? And is he a player who’ll improve United?

Well, an England U21 talent, Iling-Junior has been described as “one of the most promising young footballers of his generation”, by the official Juventus website which is quite a claim.

The 20-year-old made 24 Serie A appearances last season, scoring once and assisting twice for Juventus. A left-sided winger, he isn’t exactly a player United needs and would run into stiff competition with Alejandro Garancho and Marcus Rashford sure to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Iling-Junior came through the Chelsea academy before being sold to Juventus for over £1m in 2020. His England youth career has him scoring twice in five U21 caps.

An exciting player, with Spurs also having shown an interest, but probably not what United need this summer.

The spotlight is on Matthijs de Ligt as far as Manchester United are concerned.

After attempting to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who appears to have been priced out of a move, United have switched their attention to Netherlands star De Ligt.

Most of you will remember his performances for Ajax when they last reached the Champions League semi-finals, under Erik ten Hag in 2019, but he has been unable to reach those heights at Juventus or Bayern Munich.

Ten Hag may be able to get the best out of De Ligt, which is why United are trying to sign the 24-year-old centre-back this summer.

According to BBC Sport, United believe they are making progress in their attempts to sign De Ligt.

United held talks with De Ligt’s advisors about a potential move to Old Trafford, while Bayern are trying to trim their wage bill.

De Ligt is currently in Germany with his country at the European Championship. That said, he is not starting in games under Ronald Koeman.

The Dutch defender has been unable to cement his place in the Bayern Munich team and the German club has been linked with moves for new centre-backs this summer.

No wonder they are willing to listen to offers for De Ligt, who is reportedly willing to take a pay cut at United.

United need to find a partner for Lisandro Martinez in the heart of defence following Raphael Varane’s departure. We need someone of high quality who is reliable and not injury prone.

De Ligt gives green light to Manchester United

In another update this afternoon, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims De Ligt has given a green light to United after direct contacts with his camp.

Romano doesn’t believe personal terms will be an issue as his agent, Rafaela Pimenta is only negotiating with United, which is a priority of the player.

Manchester United are now set to appoint Christopher Vivell as their new director of recruitment, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Vivell most recently worked at Chelsea, leaving Stamford Bridge around a year ago. The 37-year-old wasn’t there long, and he’s now available once again with United looking to bring him to Old Trafford. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stamped his authority at the club since arriving, bringing in a host of different people behind the scenes.

Dan Ashworth was recently confirmed as a new appointment, but it appears that United aren’t stopping there in terms of backroom additions.

Vivell to Man Utd Now a Done Deal

He will join as director of recruitment.

Sky Sports reporter Plettenberg has confirmed that Vivell is set to complete a move to United with immediate effect as director of recruitment. The 37-year-old will move to Old Trafford on a short-term deal and will help in terms of transfers for the Manchester club…

“Understand it’s a DONE DEAL: Christopher Vivell is set to join Manchester United with immediate effect as their new Director of Recruitment! All that’s missing is the work permit for the 37 y/o. The former Technical Director from Chelsea with many options. But he decided to join #MUFC on a short-term contract! Vivell will help in terms of transfers in the next two windows.”

Vivell spent just seven months at Chelsea between December 2022 and July 2023, but he was let go as Todd Boehly made further changes behind the scenes.

The German has also spent time with RB Leipzig, meaning he has experienced working in a multi-club model, something United are now involved in with INEOS owning other sides.

Vivell has plenty of experience working in recruitment for some big clubs around Europe, and Ratcliffe is clearly doing everything he can to ensure United’s transfer strategy improves. It’s been a major problem for the Red Devils in recent years and Ratcliffe will be hoping to steer them in the right direction.

Now, the Reds have been handed a further boost in their pursuit of the midfielder.

As Ugarte is currently away on international duty at the Copa America, he’ll struggle to negotiate with clubs directly until he returns from the United States. Therefore, such conversations will be left to his agent, Jorge Chijane, and he’s now touched on the likelihood of the player leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Speaking to O Jogo, cited by The Mirror, Chijane revealed that there was another Premier League club considering a move for the 23-year-old Uruguayan.

“Liverpool? There is a lot of talk but it is not the only club. There are others. There are many possibilities on the table,” he declared before adding: “It’s almost certain that he won’t stay. It’s sure he’ll leave.

“I believe the situation will be resolved.”

Ugarte tops INEOS’ midfield shortlist as it stands

United were thought to be scouring the market for potential Casemiro replacements before eventually landing on Ugarte. They want a midfielder who can continue aiding Kobbie Mainoo’s development and helping the teenager flourish in his sophomore term of first-team action.

Whether or not Liverpool’s interest will materialise remains to be seen. They can offer the former Sporting Lisbon ace one thing United cannot – Champions League football next season.

Ugarte has only been at the Parc des Princes for a year following his £51.1 million switch last July, and it’s believed that the Ligue 1 giants would be unwilling to take much of a hit  – if any – of what they paid for him.
