“In line with the INEOS directive, I’ve decided to let all the NINE PLAYERS leave today…I hope our fans understand and believe in the project”: Erik ten Hag names NINE Man United leaving the club today as ONE pen an emotional message to fan

With the date reading Sunday, June 30, it’s time for every Premier League club across the country to say goodbye to at least a few of their stars as their contracts expire – and Manchester United are no different.

Erik ten Hag’s side will see seven of their players leave the club as free agents today with the 2023/24 season officialy coming to an end. A handful of those are first team stars, while others are academy players who never truly broke through into the first team and got their chance to shine and will instead seek new opportunities away from Old Trafford.

As announced back in May, forward Anthony Martial is leaving the club after nine years. The French international netted 90 goals across his 317 appearances for the club, helping them to lift the the Europa League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups during his stint in Manchester.

Confirming his departure on his social media, Martial wrote a heartfelt letter to United supporters, saying: “Dear Manchester United fans. It’s with great emotion that I write to you today to say goodbye. After nine incredible years at the club, the time has come for me to turn a new page in my career.

“Since I arrived in 2015, I have had the immense honour of wearing this shirt and playing in front of you, the best supporters in the world! You have been an unwavering support, through the good times and the difficult. Your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of motivation for me. I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me. Your songs, your encouragement and your love for the club are memories that will remain engraved in my heart forever.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to all my team-mates, technical staff and all the members of the club I have met during my 9 years here. I am proud to have been able to share these experiences with you. Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you. I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion.

“Thank you again for everything, and see you soon. With all my affection, Anthony Martial.”

Raphael Varane is another departure that confirmed his future last month following three seasons at United. Having made 95 appearances over the last three years, the defender will enter free agency for the first time in his career but told beIN SPORTS last month that he’s in no rush to make a decision about his destination.

“I don’t know [where I will go],” Varane said. “I’ll take time to think. I just wanted to come back in time for the final. A return to France? Everything is possible. I’m at the end of my contract. It’s the first time that has happened in my career so I’ll take the time to really think.”

Twenty-three-year-old academy graduate Brandon Williams will leave United following the expiry of his contract this afternoon, following the full-back’s season-long loan spell at Ipswich Town. Having joined the club at the age of nine and going on to make 51 first-team appearances, Williams was handed an opportunity to break into the starting line-up after Ashley Young’s suspension and Luke Shaw’s injury back in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The star followed in the footsteps of Varane and Martial in releasing a statement on his social media accounts, highlighting the love he had for the club and made the claim “ONCE A RED ALWAYS A RED”.

Jonny Evans is also set to be out of contract but United remain willing to retain the academy graduate. Having rejoined the Reds eight years after leaving last summer as a free agent, Evans played a key part in helping Ten Hag’s men lift the FA Cup trophy over rivals Manchester City in May.

Originally signed as some much-needed defensive depth and a back-up option, injuries to Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Varane throughout the season saw him drafted in 30 times, but claimed after the cup final that his future was still up in the air.

“I’m pretty relaxed about it,” he admitted. “I’ll see what the club say over the next couple of weeks but nothing at the moment in terms of discussions over a new contract, so we’ll see how it goes.”

In the same boat as Evans is goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who is said to still be in discussions with United about retainment despite his contract’s expiration this afternoon, while academy stars Shola Shoretire, Charlie McNeill, Kie Plumley and Marcus Lawrence are all being let go.

“Done Deal”: Sky Sports announced first Man United’s first summer transfer signing as player arrives in Manchester ahead of unveiling slated for today

Manchester United are now set to appoint Christopher Vivell as their new director of recruitment, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Vivell most recently worked at Chelsea, leaving Stamford Bridge around a year ago. The 37-year-old wasn’t there long, and he’s now available once again with United looking to bring him to Old Trafford. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stamped his authority at the club since arriving, bringing in a host of different people behind the scenes.

Dan Ashworth was recently confirmed as a new appointment, but it appears that United aren’t stopping there in terms of backroom additions.

Vivell to Man Utd Now a Done Deal

He will join as director of recruitment.

Sky Sports reporter Plettenberg has confirmed that Vivell is set to complete a move to United with immediate effect as director of recruitment. The 37-year-old will move to Old Trafford on a short-term deal and will help in terms of transfers for the Manchester club…

“Understand it’s a DONE DEAL: Christopher Vivell is set to join Manchester United with immediate effect as their new Director of Recruitment! All that’s missing is the work permit for the 37 y/o. The former Technical Director from Chelsea with many options. But he decided to join #MUFC on a short-term contract! Vivell will help in terms of transfers in the next two windows.”

Vivell spent just seven months at Chelsea between December 2022 and July 2023, but he was let go as Todd Boehly made further changes behind the scenes.

The German has also spent time with RB Leipzig, meaning he has experienced working in a multi-club model, something United are now involved in with INEOS owning other sides.

Vivell has plenty of experience working in recruitment for some big clubs around Europe, and Ratcliffe is clearly doing everything he can to ensure United’s transfer strategy improves. It’s been a major problem for the Red Devils in recent years and Ratcliffe will be hoping to steer them in the right direction.

“My client has completed his medical to join Man United but the club is yet to agree my own fee…I may be forced to cancel the deal”: Agent reveals his player is poised to join Man United today but the club is yet to agree his own fee, threatened to cancel the deal

Now, the Reds have been handed a further boost in their pursuit of the midfielder.

As Ugarte is currently away on international duty at the Copa America, he’ll struggle to negotiate with clubs directly until he returns from the United States. Therefore, such conversations will be left to his agent, Jorge Chijane, and he’s now touched on the likelihood of the player leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Speaking to O Jogo, cited by The Mirror, Chijane revealed that there was another Premier League club considering a move for the 23-year-old Uruguayan.

“Liverpool? There is a lot of talk but it is not the only club. There are others. There are many possibilities on the table,” he declared before adding: “It’s almost certain that he won’t stay. It’s sure he’ll leave.

“I believe the situation will be resolved.”

Ugarte tops INEOS’ midfield shortlist as it stands

United were thought to be scouring the market for potential Casemiro replacements before eventually landing on Ugarte. They want a midfielder who can continue aiding Kobbie Mainoo’s development and helping the teenager flourish in his sophomore term of first-team action.

Whether or not Liverpool’s interest will materialise remains to be seen. They can offer the former Sporting Lisbon ace one thing United cannot – Champions League football next season.

Ugarte has only been at the Parc des Princes for a year following his £51.1 million switch last July, and it’s believed that the Ligue 1 giants would be unwilling to take much of a hit  – if any – of what they paid for him.

“If he choose Man United over Man City, I’ll resign as a football coach…He’s the player we can’t afford to see him playing for them, they may become undefeatable with him”: Pep Guardiola angered by World-class player’s decision to join Man United as Man City increases bid to convince him from Man United transfer

A report has claimed that a certain Manchester United target has caught Pep Guardiola’s eye.

On several occasions, both Manchester clubs have targeted the same player over the years.

While Manchester United were heralded at the time for winning the race to sign the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Alexis Sanchez, Fred and Harry Maguire, who were widely reported to be Manchester City targets — the blue side of the city had the last laugh in all such instances.

Ronaldo, Sanchez and Fred had underwhelming spells at Old Trafford while Maguire’s time at the club has largely been disastrous.

Manchester City, on the other hand tend to do great business and considering Pep Guardiola’s status at the Etihad Stadium, they would ideally like to reward him with his dream signings after having won four consecutive Premier League titles.

Why Pep Guardiola rates Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite

Despite the Red Devils no longer being the juggernaut of a side they once were, their standing in English football remains of arguably the biggest club in the country.

As a result, on the basis of their status alone, it seems several players still gravitate towards the opportunity of playing for one of the most prestigious clubs in world football.

Even so, if City enter the picture in United’s pursuit for a player — they have every reason to be worried, with their cross-town rivals being the gold standard in English football.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is considering a move for Jarrad Branthwaite — a player Erik ten Hag would like Manchester United to sign in the summer, even if they manage to wrap up the potential acquisition of Matthijs de Ligt.

Guardiola is believed to be “impressed” with how well Branthwaite plays out from the back as well as his defensive qualities.

The report states that the 22-year-old’s current valuation is £80 million — a claim that was made in June — with Everton internally considering him as a defender who should command similar fees to the likes of Josko Gvardiol, who was signed by Manchester City for £77.6 million, the £80 million (BBC Sport) man, Harry Maguire and Wesley Fofana, who Chelsea paid £75 million (Sky Sports) for in 2022.

Manchester City do not necessarily need Jarrad Branthwaite

As excellent a centre-back as Branthwaite is, unless Manchester City intend to sell one of their defenders, one wonders why Pep Guardiola is interested in his signature.

The rationale of considering the Englishman as a potential signing would add up if the plan at the Etihad Stadium was to let go of an an injury-prone centre-back like John Stones.

With Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol not linked with summer exits, the idea of adding the youngster to their roster seems unnecessary.

Especially if the Sky Blues are asked to pay a whopping £80 million to address an area of the squad that is not a priority in the slightest.
