Manchester United flop Casemiro has “joined Marbella FC”, with the Spanish side making a shock announcement after achieving promotion.
With Casemiro heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, the Spanish side have cheekily teased the Brazilian “joining” their club. In reality, the five-time Champions League winner has become the newest stakeholder in the club following their second consecutive promotion.
The club posted an official communication on their website with the title ‘Casemiro joins Marbella FC’, which read: “Marbella Futbol Club is pleased to announce that Carlos Henrique Casemiro, star of Manchester United, the Brazilian national team and five-time winner of the Champions League, becomes a new shareholder of our entity as of today.
“The enthusiasm and commitment that Casemiro demonstrates with the Marbella FC project are evident with his incorporation into the club’s shareholding structure. Not only Marbella but also the entire city, feel proud that an athlete of his global dimension wants to belong to our family.
“The confirmation of Casemiro as a new member of the board of directors is a historic opportunity for the club to continue projecting its institutional and sporting strategy in elite football.
“With this move, Marbella strengthens its roadmap by allying itself with a strategic partner who will help the general growth of our institution through their experience. The passion, leadership and sense of responsibility that have always guided Casemiro in his professional career are more than justified reasons why from today we open the doors of our house to him.
“Welcome to Marbella, Case!”
WHAT CASEMIRO SAID
The Brazilian said in the official communication: “It is an honour for me to join the Marbella Futbol Club because my greatest motivation is the spectacular growth possibilities of the club. I have been to Marbella with my family on several occasions and my children, my wife and I are in love with this city, with which we want to be linked for life. Without a doubt, together we will dream big to take Marbella to the top, but now we have to enjoy our wonderful promotion to Primera Federacion.”
After spending two years in the fifth division of Spanish football, Marbella have received a lot of investment over the last couple of years, which has helped them push for two straight promotions in the Primera Federacion. After finishing atop the Tercera Federacion in the 2022-23 season, they finished third this season and attained promotion to Spanish football’s third tier via the playoffs.
Despite the announcement by Marbella, Casemiro’s future is still up in the air. United are reportedly still looking for permanent suitors for the 32-year-old, and it has been suggested that he could join former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, though their Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Hilal are also thought to be chasing his signing.
